British Columbia & Ontario Invite Candidates in Most Recent PNP Draw
The provincial nomination programs in BC and Ontario sent out invitations to apply (ITA). Provincial nomination is not the same as PR, although it is often the first step in the process of obtaining PR from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. Except for the territories of Quebec and Nunavut, the majority of Canadian provinces and territories run their individual schemes. The provincial nomination process may begin with these programs.
Why Is BC and Ontario PNP Draw So Important?
When it comes to immigration, the province of Quebec has its individual set of rules that are separate from the federal government of Canada. Over 85,000 PR admissions annually are processed through the PNP currently. The federal and provincial governments of Canada see the PNP as a useful instrument for fostering economic growth in areas of the country with lower immigrant populations.
British Colombia and Ontario PNP
1340 EE candidates under skilled trade were invited by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program on September 29. The minimum passing score for applicants was 266. Candidates for this program stream must be PR of Ontario and have worked full-time in Ontario for at least one year in a skilled trade recognized by the NOC or Minor Group 633. Accomplishments in the workplace should be from the past two years at the very latest. Applicants must also have a CLB score of 5 or higher in English/French, and hold a valid license, or certificate for their trade.
On October 4, more than 230 individuals were extended invitations to submit nomination paperwork for the province of BC. In a random selection, 184 applicants were chosen. EE candidates were among those invited under the skilled worker and international graduate categories. SIRS minimums for candidates in the general draw ranged from 82 to 120. SIRS is a ranking system utilized exclusively by British Columbia that functions similarly to EE’s CRS.
BC and Ontario PNP Are Crucial
To enable the province of BC adapts to its ever-changing labor market, the provincial government has established the PNP. Employers in BC can make use of this program to find and keep skilled foreign workers who can enrich the province’s economy. It also chooses business owners that are eager to put money into the Canadian economy and provide employment for locals. When an individual applies for PR in Canada, the PNP evaluates their application and makes a nomination.
In 2007, Ontario unveiled the Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (formally known as the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program). The primary goals are to address skill shortages in certain industries, facilitate investment in Ontario, and facilitate a smooth transition to life in Ontario for newcomers. Initially, the PNP could only nominate a maximum of 1,000 foreign nationals. Presently, Ontario proposes nominations for around 8,000 annual immigrants. Those looking to immigrate to Ontario can choose between standard and priority processing.
A Consultant Is the Ultimate Choice
There are over 90 different immigration streams under the PNP, making it difficult to keep track of which ones are now available. Each province/territory has its individual set of criteria for choosing nomination candidates, and they vary by a stream. If a candidate is nominated at the provincial level, they will be eligible to apply for PR at the federal level. For every 600 points an applicant has in the EE pool, they will receive an automatic invitation to apply.
